Sherry Pollex, longtime partner of NASCAR driver Martin Truex Jr. will be the special guest speaker at GYN Cancers Alliance’s upcoming fundraiser, the 15th Annual Spring Luncheon and Survivor Fashion Show presented by Ron & Janice Penney. The event benefits GYN Cancers Alliance and The Ellis Fund.

Pollex was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in late 2014, she and Truex Jr. were very public about her diagnosis and journey. The two have become advocates for research and early detection of the disease. Sherry has a long history of supporting cancer research, specifically through the Martin Truex Jr. Foundations’ annual CatWalk for a Cause Fashion Show (May 18th, 2016 in Mooresville, NC). The foundation’s focus is raising funds for childhood cancer research. After Sherry’s diagnosis the mission of the foundation evolved to include raising awareness and funds for Ovarian Cancer research.

To celebrate GYNCA’s 15th year of operation in the Ozarks and the 15th year of this annual event, Jan Robbins Executive Director wanted to GO BIG in 2016.

“As we worked to come up with fresh ideas for our survivor fashion show with this year’s Chairwoman, Janice Penney, we decided GYNCA could give back to another like organization through the event. We have partnered with The Ellis Fund. This fund was established to help ease the financial burden families face as a child goes through a cancer diagnosis. Very similar to what we do here locally at GYNCA,” shared Robbins.

“This year we will feature childhood cancer and gynecologic cancer survivors in the Fashion Show. Rocking fashions by; Town & County, The Harem, Krickets Fine Fashions, Talbots, The Review Shoppe and Hip Chick Boutique. Sherry Pollex has been hosting a childhood cancer fashion show for 7 years now, the similarities of what we are doing here in the Ozarks and what Sherry and the foundation are doing make this extra special for all of us. She has been through a lot in the last 17 months and is extremely generous to give of her time and resources to come here and help raise awareness and funds in Southwest Missouri for GYNCA and the Ellis Fund,” continued Robbins.
